The favourite haunts not there

                                Another version the only known

The different era

Previous selves sifted like sand in faint waves of recognition

Other connections made, met

On bike, foot, land over sea

The silence of identity derailed by the

formations

juxta, imposed, supposed, suppressed, suggested by the city.

In commuting, communicating the other of you

Juttering and solidifying assertions of the inner geography

Longer travels, bigger places, more transient people

different lives.

Haar of snow, flaking, fogging

veiling the imagined secrets

of reinvented selves.

Footsteps melting and falling into water

building distance for bridges, for purpose, for contrast

Subaquatic soundtracks of relief and sway

Flashlights of warning, of party, of rescue

of well worn

of spontaneous maps tracing
